The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) said yesterday that the blockage which affected the treatment of water at the Shelter Belt has been removed by the East Demerara Water Conservancy Board and that water should be restored by yesterday afternoon. The company said in a press release that unfortunately owing to a power outage at 2 am yesterday the water pressure remained low.
It said the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) restored power at 7 am and the plant is functioning as per normal.
