Shouldn’t the Speaker follow up on bills sent to the President for assent?

Dear Editor,

I refer to your report that ten bills passed in parliament had lapsed because the president failed to assent to them. Why is there not a follow up system by the Speaker for bills sent to the President? Why did the President not explain his failure to assent or return the bills with his comments?

On another matter, a website that allows people overseas and the government to match skills and needs would be a good start to using skilled overseas Guyanese.

Yours faithfully,
