Workers should not push garbage into the gutters when they clear the parapet

Dear Editor,

My aunt lives in Waterloo Street and she has shown me the road works being done. While I applaud the government for their initiative, I urge them to caution the workers to take more care when they are working.

They were clearing the parapets and pushing everything into the gutter which will result in that area flooding if a little rain falls. They also broke several pipes and did nothing to fix them.

We want to know when the gutters are going to be cleared from Globe Cinema down to Quamina Street and the rest too.

Also, how can they do massive works on the avenue and not fix the shortest street in Guyana which is right next to Church Street. I am not au fait with the name, but I was told that it does have a name and when persons are driving up Waterloo Street and need to turn into the other section near Globe there is a huge hole in the intersecting roads. I urge Minister Benn and the other persons responsible for these works to get this fixed. We were told it could not be fixed due to a GWI problem. Can GWI please investigate and fix this.

We are all fed up of seeing works done in a totally messed up fashion and want to see productivity and progress. Let us take pride in our work Guyanese and do a good job.

Yours faithfully,

Sabina Perreira
