The Clerical and Commercial Workers Union (CCWU) remembers Cecil Griffith for his “skill, service and style” during his career and membership.
In a press release, the CCWU said Griffith served as branch chairman for a short period in the earlier years after it had gained recognition at the radio station. The CCWU said the establishment of the Guyana Broadcasting Service and his ascendancy to editor-in-chief never dampened his enthusiasm for the union, in fact, Griffith was one its best advisers when it introduced the newsletter Clerico News. Griffith was a giant in the field of journalism, his style was unique, and due to his constant advice and encouragement to the CCWU made him an honorary member.
