Remember what Dietrich Bonhoeffer said

Dear Editor,

There were many editorials over the past few weeks re the withdrawal of government and state entity advertising from the Stabroek News. The Jamaican Gleaner, the Trinidad Express and on Monday the Kaieteur News stepped up to the plate.

It was a guest editorial and it would be very interesting to know who that guest was.

Suffice to say that the Kaieteur News, with the exception of Freddie, should be careful when appearing to justify the government’s recent action with taxpayers’ money.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer, German Pastor and Theologian, who was hanged by the Nazis said words to the effect that first they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew, so I looked away…then the communists, then the gypsies, then the mentally deranged….then they came for me and when I looked to see who would help me…there was no-one left…

He wrote it far more eloquently…but you get my point!

By the way…where is Stella? I sorely miss her. Wednesday Ramblings, Paul Harris’ cartoons and the more recent editorials would be reason enough to purchase Stabroek News, but other than some of Freddie’s articles, the AFC column and the excellent sports coverage, Kaieteur News would not get my nod without the truly brilliant Stella!

Yours faithfully,

B Harper
