Nagamootoo to play and coach in Trinidad

Former West Indies’ leg-spinner Mahendra Nagamootoo and Guyanese wicket-keeper Derwin Christian have been drafted in by the Moosai’s Sports Club for the remainder of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board local domestic season.

A right-arm leg-spinner, Nagamootoo was specially honoured by the West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) at their fourth annual award ceremony and dinner function held on February 12 at the Sherbourne Conference Centre in St Michael, Barbados.

Nagamootoo has taken over 300 wickets in regional first-class cricket.

Christian, a hard-hitting batsman was the Guyana wicketkeeper in this year’s Carib Beer Series.

Both players will be participating with the Moosai’s Sports Club in the Eastern Credit Union-sponsored National Cricket League Division Two competition and will also assist at the club’s coaching clinics in Tunapuna, Sangre Grande and Toco.

Both players were in action over the week-end when they appeared for Moosai against Cosmos Sports at Honeymoon Park, El Dorado Road, Tunapuna.
