Mr Corbin has not chosen the best team for Parliament

Dear Editor,

I agree with Mr Brynmor Pollard when he said that parliamentarians are reading their speeches in the parliament. If the Standing Rules say that they should not read why are they allowed to do so?

I noticed that this is being done mostly by the PNCR parliamentarians. This caused me to remember the editorial by the Stabroek News captioned “The PNC at 50” which stated that the PNCR parliamentarians were “conspicuous by their lack of contribution to debates in the National Assembly”. During the budget debate only Mr Winston Murray made any sense.

I stood in a line for a long time to vote on Election Day and I want an explanation. Could Mr Corbin tell this nation how it is possible that with so much talent in the PNCR he managed to put together such a poor team for parliament? Did he put his friends only? Did he keep out all persons who could be the next leader of the PNCR? Why were good persons like Vincent Alexander and Deryck Bernard not taken to parliament?

I wish to tell Mr Corbin that he does not have the right to behave like this. He does not have the right to damage the PNCR for his personal interest. I want to tell Mr Corbin that I did not vote for him, I voted for the PNCR. I did not even vote for his 1 “G”.

I wish to suggest that the PNCR set up a panel to monitor the performance of parliamentarians and those who cannot perform to a certain standard should be asked to resign.

Yours faithfully,

Carl Williams
