The company that got the contract to import the BMWs is part-owned by Mr Reepu Daman Persaud’s son

Dear Editor,

A company calling itself Prestige Motors Inc. (Co. No. 5681) was contracted by the Government without any public bidding to import the BMWs (Bimmers) for the cricket world cup.

It is sometimes quite revealing to look behind the name of the company to see who are the real movers and shakers. The company was incorporated on or about 6th December, 2006. This means it had never before done any business as a car importer.

One does not therefore need to make any giant leap of deduction to conclude that the sole purpose for this company’s incorporation was to secure the contract to import the Bimmers.

The Articles of incorporation reveal that one of the incorporators is Vishok Persaud. For those who do not know Vishok Persaud is the son of Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud. Mr. Vishok Persaud’s previous knowledge of and experience with Bimmers can only be what he had read on the internet or had seen in television ads.

I must admit to myself having some experience with these cars since a close relative of mine owns a 7 series Bimmer which I have driven from time to time and which I can authoritatively attest is indeed “the ultimate driving machine”.

To use the words of none other than Mr. Donald Ramotar, the comrades are using their positions “to feather their nests”.

Your faithfully,

(name and address supplied)
