Royston Crandon showered with prizes

Guyana’s senior opening batsman Royston Crandon was showered with prizes on Sunday after he was named Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC) Cri-cketer-of-the-Year at the club’s 17th annual awards ceremony.

A release from the club stated that Crandon took home approximately $400 ,000 worth of prizes including a ticket to the USA, a cell phone, gold jewellery, a CD player and gas cooker.

Crandon also received the Courts first division bowler and outstanding first class regional performance awards.

The club honoured 20 of its players for outstanding performances over the past year. They received a range of prizes including bicycles, educational packages, cricket gear, DVD and CD players.

The RHTYSC also honoured the donors who contributed to the event, while inducting 27 persons as honorary members of the club.

Among those inducted are secretary of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), Bish Panday, University of Guyana Professor Doris Rogers and Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Courts Guyana Inc, Zeya Ramnauth.

Secretary and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the club, Hilbert Foster presented the club’s annual report underscoring the club’s success at the under-19 level and the launching of the Ramnaresh Sarwan Trust Fund.

Foster lauded Courts, Bakewell, Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T), Farfan and Mendes Ltd, Food for the Poor, North American Airlines, Roopgroup, Pepsi and the Windies Sports Bar for their commitment to the RHTYSC.
