Residents must pay up for electricity supply – PM

Prime Minister Samuel Hinds in a written response to a question in Parliament on Thursday, raised in the name of PNCR-1G member Judith David-Blair said several areas in Region Seven are sequenced for electrification, but certain requirements must be met.

He said the order for commencement of infrastructural works will chiefly be determined by occupancy level, which should desirably be at least 50 percent to achieve the greatest economic returns for GPL; and residents’ willingness to pay the consumer contribution of $10,000.

Among the areas he listed were West Indian Association Scheme, West Secondary School Scheme, Four Miles Scheme Phase I and Four Miles Scheme Phase II.
