Camptown/GT&T Super 6 football

Sophia ‘B’ came from behind on Tuesday to edged Kitty `B’ 2-1 and secure a place in the semi-finals of the Camptown Football Club’s Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company’s Super 6 football tournament played at the Campbellville Community Centre ground.

Trailing 0-1 going into the second half of the game, Shemroy Arthur registered a double which ensured that his team advance to the semi-final round.

The match which began at a very fast pace, saw the Kitty team seizing an early initative to establish a 1-0 lead after only five minutes play, through a Jermaine Wills goal which resulted from a defence blunder.

The team however, squandered a few scoring opportunities which could have seen them establishing a more sizeable lead in the first half.

Kitty `B’ was unable to maintain their momentum in the second period as their opponents, who were unfortunate not to secure a first-half equalizer, were more purposeful in coming forward and utilized the flanks frequently in attack.

As such, it was not surprising that Arthur converted two goals within five minutes.

Arthur’s first came in the 55th minute after he evaded a defender’s challenge and converted while being unmarked. The same thing happened when he scored his second goal.

Meanwhile, one of the two finalists will be decided today at the same venue when Kitty `A’ tackles Sophia ‘B’ from 4 pm.

Kitty will be spearheaded by Floyd Edinboro, Sherwin Bailey, Orin Squires and Sherwin Vincent. Forming the core of Sophia’s attack will be Arthure, Quincy Williams, Sean Heywood and Joylon Crawford.

Over $120,000 in cash incentives, trophies and medals are at stake.

De Sinco Trading and Knight Rider Bus Service are the two main contributors to this tournament.

Super 6 action will continue tomorrow at the same venue with the other semi-final.
