Some false documents are very difficult to detect

Dear Editor,

I take this opportunity to congratulate the US Embassy on their recent decision not to accept supporting documents for B1, B2 visas.

As the director of a private investigating agency during various investigations we came across a number of false documents that originated from official sources from a number of legitimate institutions which are very difficult for the amateur investigator to detect and which were used to acquire visas and contracts.

I am however disturbed that some of my fellow Guya-nese who will be most affected by this decision feel it’s a diplomatic sanction imposed in retaliation to President Jagdeo’s recent verbal attack on the US Government. They are saying it’s a way of saying no more visitors’ visas.

I am however convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt the decision was based solely on forged/false documents.

Yours faithfully,

Robert Gates
