I just read of the ordeal the ex-employees of Republic Bank went through although they were not charged with any crimes. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
Several years ago an employee of another bank salted away several million dollars and escaped to the US. I heard of the theft and asked the then managing director at Palm Court whether it was true and if the employee was apprehended. He denied this and in the meanwhile the lady who committed the theft was allowed to leave for New York. Nothing was done and I think the said lady visits Guyana without any problems.
I know also of several people who robbed the GNCB of millions of dollars, employees conspired with borrowers and today several of those people are around going about their business.
