Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle yesterday refused bail to a man who allegedly had large amounts of cocaine under the floorboards of his house.
According to the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court report Andre Parris, 29, a mason/plumber of 54 D’Urban Street, Werk-en-Rust, pleaded not guilty to a charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. It is alleged that on March 21, at the said location, Parris had in his possession 794 grammes of cocaine. CANU officers, acting on information, went to Parris’ home to conduct a search for narcotics. Parris was seen lying on a bed and the search, conducted in his presence, unearthed cocaine wrapped in plastic under the floorboards. When he was shown the substance, Parris allegedly used an expletive and said “Ah get ketch”. He was then arrested and taken to CANU headquarters along with the cocaine.
Parris told the court that he resides at 8 Drysdale Street, Charlestown. However, he had given this address as well as the first stated address to the CANU officers.
Attorney-at-law Adrian Thompson represented Parris. CANU’s prosecutor is Oswald Massiah. Parris was ordered to appear at Court 3 on April 12.
