T&HD should be more concerned with the safety of disembarking passengers

Dear Editor,

I travelled with Malali from Adventure to Parika on February 23. I saw in front of me the danger of getting off the stage at Parika; the stage was so steep, very steep, and it was difficult for passengers to walk on it. To make things even worse, the rain had fallen a few minutes earlier.

I could not have managed to get off the stage easily, and other people experienced the same problem, especially old people. I had to ask a man if he would hold my hand because I was very frightened and also because of my age. There were other people who did the same. A girl with her two children was forced to take off her shoes and had a big bag slung around her back, so you can imagine the strain she experienced. It is not the first time this situation has occurred; it has happened many times. Come on T&HD, do something about it now. Are you waiting for someone to fall in the river? Or is it that you want to see or hear that a person has slipped and broken a leg? The visually impaired need rails to hold on to.

Yours faithfully,

Joe Ramroop
