The campaign to tarnish Mr Corbin’s image continues

Dear Editor,

I recognise that the detractors are at work again; having not gained any attention the last time, they have certainly not let up. Yes, they have restarted to their campaign to tarnish Robert Corbin’s image as leader of PNCR. They argue that Corbin should leave office as leader of the party but give no valid reason or rationale for their suggestions.

I urge the members and supporters of the party to stay focused and not to be distracted by these shallow comments, but to focus your energies on continuing to build your party in order to expand its base.

We know that in any democracy critics and criticisms of public officials and politicians will always obtain, it is however, important that in this more than fragile democracy we need to analyse very carefully what we read and hear. We need to strive to glean the real intention of these comments and ask whether they are motivated by self-interest, real or genuine concern for the party or are they designed to merely distract?

So let us not be distracted my friends, for if we allow such distractions to hang in our minds the President and the PPP/C will continue to breach their covenant with the Guyanese people, who they continuously take for granted.

As responsible citizens we must continue to be guardians of our party, its leadership and our society as a whole. Like you, I look forward to an exciting and successful General Council Meeting on Saturday, and trust that we would pledge to recommit ourselves to continue to work in the interest of the party as a whole.

Yours faithfully,

Lurlene Nestor
