During World Cup let’s avoid the negative sentiments

Dear Editor,

Unfortunately, we may not have the matches or the number of visitors for World Cup Cricket that we might have liked. Yet we ought not to let our disappointment dampen our hospitality to all the visitors to Guyana.

My wish for the CWC, apart from a West Indies Victory, is that for the duration of the World Cup in Guyana, we can avoid the personal attacks and negative sentiments so common in many of the letters and columns in our newspapers.

Those letters and columns can surely wait until after the final game of the Guyana leg of the Super Eight is over by which time the venom would have subsided and the letter or column may no longer be necessary – at least as originally contemplated.

Yours faithfully,

Christopher Ram
