Police probing armed robbery of ‘Good Samaritan’ along Ituni Road

Police have launched an investigation into the armed robbery of a ‘Good Samaritan’ businessman by three gunmen along the Ituni Road. The gunmen made off with some $400,000 in cash from the businessman.

According to a police statement, around 13:45hrs on Thursday George Dickie of Crane Housing Scheme, West Coast Demerara was attacked and robbed by three men, two of whom were armed with handguns. The police said that the businessman was returning from Ituni in his motor lorry with groceries when he noticed two men carrying another man who appeared as though he was injured. Reports are that Dickie stopped with the intention of rendering assistance when he was held at gunpoint by two of the men. The men then took away a bag containing over $400,000 in cash before making good their escape.
