Guyanese shot by masked men in Antigua

(Antigua Sun) A festive occasion suddenly turned ugly after several people were forced to run for cover after masked gunmen appeared at their get together in the Gray Hill area in the wee hours of Sunday morning.

One man has been left nursing gun shot wounds to the thigh after the men opened fire as he sought to get away from the affair.

Hospitalised is 50-year-old Ferdinand McLeord of Guyana.

Reports are that McLeord was attending a 50th birthday party for Elmira David, who is also from Guyana.

Further reports are that those in attendance at the function were enjoying themselves, when two masked men appeared.

Eyewitness reports are that both men dressed in all black and with their faces completely covered, came from opposite directions.

McLeord, after seeing the men, who were brandishing guns, began to run from the scene.

It is alleged that the masked bandits fired shots, one of which struck the 50-year old in the right thigh. Both men then fled the scene. According to reports, the men made no demands before opening fire.

The shooting incident occurred sometime around midnight
