A 16-year-old boy is clinging to life at the Georgetown Hospital after he was flung from the motor scooter he was riding after being hit by a Route 40 minibus at the corner of Regent and Wellington streets yesterday.
Collin Barry of 102 Quamina Street is now a patient in the Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Hospital having sustained injuries to the head, shoulder and other parts of the body.
Reports reaching Stabroek News are that around 4 pm the lad was sent on an errand by a relative. He was proceeding along Wellington Street and as he attempted to cross Regent Street he was hit by the minibus.
He was picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Hospital. He showed no signs of movement and his eyes were closed. A tube had to be placed in his throat to help him to breathe.
This newspaper was also told that Barry is on life support and is in a critical condition.
Up to press time last night his condition remained the same.
