ERC to hold consultations with African-Guyanese community

The Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) will next month hold special consultations with organisations, groups and individuals of the African-Guyanese community who will be able to make known their concerns.

The consultations will be held from November 13 to 16, 2007.

This is part of the commission’s responsibilities in keeping with its mandate to consult with other bodies and persons to determine and specify the perceived needs of the various ethnic groups for the fostering of harmonious relationships.

At a press conference recently, Chairman Juan Edghill said that the commission also intends to engage the various ethnic groups in conversation to discuss issues and come to amicable solutions.
