The National Archives is to be named after slain historian Dr Walter Rodney.
The announcement was made by President Bharrat Jagdeo yesterday during a tour of the Theatre Guild site.
A new building for the Archives has been erected on Homestretch Avenue. Its previous location on Main Street is to be transformed into a hotel.
Dr Rodney died in 1980 when a walkie-talkie he was carrying exploded.
