T&HD General Manager dies

General Manager of the Transport and Harbours Department (T&HD) William Joseph passed away on Monday at the age of 49 after a brief illness.

Joseph joined the T&HD in October 1976 as a Clerk 11 in the Accounts Division, a release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) said. He was later recruited as marine fitter in 1980 at the Central Workshop and in 1983 he was appointed an engineer cadet. In 1989 he became a marine engineer and in 1993 chief mechanical engineer.

GINA said further that Joseph was appointed General Manager in January 2006 after serving previously as Deputy General Manager.

Meanwhile, Minister of Transport and Hydraulics Robeson Benn has expressed condolences on his passing. T&HD Personnel Manager Cheryl Welch noted that Joseph will be remembered for his outspoken personality, advice and assistance to persons in need.
