Pakistani high commissioner accredited

President Bharrat Jagdeo on Wednesday received letters of credence from High Commissioner of Pakistan to Guyana, Musa Javed Chohan, in the credentials room at Office of the President.

According to a press release from the Government Information Agency, Chohan is qualified in a number of fields and holds masters degrees in English Literature, History, International Relations and Diplomacy and Strategic Studies. He joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan on November 1, 1971 and has served in a number of posts including as high commissioner to Malaysia from 1997-2001, as ambassador to France from 2001-2003 and as Pakistan’s permanent representative to UNESCO from 2001-2003. Chohan also served as special secretary policy, planning, research and special projects in 2004, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as director-general of the Foreign Service Academy in Islamabad from 2004-2006.
