Armed robbery charge re-read summarily

Three weeks after he appeared in court charged with armed robbery Gregory St John on Monday denied the allegation after it was read to him summarily.

When he had first appear-ed before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton, he was not required to plead to the indictable charge. On Monday the matter was set for report on whether the case would remain indictable or be read summarily.

St John pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was re-read to him when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court. He later collected his statements.

It is alleged that on November 5, at Georgetown, being armed with a gun St John, robbed Rudolph Barry of one bicycle, a cell phone and a Casio wristwatch, all to a total value of $22, 000.

The matter is set to continue on February 4.
