Army set to acquire abandoned Cessna to boost fleet

The Guyana Defence Force wants permission to use a single-engine Cessna aircraft which it seized after drug dealers abandoned it at Kwapau, Middle Mazaruni two years ago, to boost its own depleted fleet.

The YV-265 7P aircraft, which still carries a Venezuelan flag on its tail, is parked at the GDF Air Corps hangar at Timehri.

Stabroek News was told that the army has approached President Bharrat Jagdeo on the matter and from all indications, permission has been granted.
