Magistrate Fazil Azeez on Monday sentenced a repeat offender to one year imprisonment when he appeared at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court to answer to a charge of larceny.
According to the facts of the case Owen Accra, of Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara, last Friday, at Parika, allegedly stole a bicycle. Leroy De Santos is the owner of the bicycle, which was valued at $16,000.
Accra told the court that he had “borrowed” the bicycle from another man but five men had taken it away from him. The police prosecutor informed the court that Accra had been a visitor to the court many times.
