Ansa McAl/DDL join forces with GCB for Inter-County Twenty20 club tournaments

Ansa McAl and Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) through their PEPSI brand have joined forces with the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) to sponsor the GCB’s Inter-County and Club Twenty20 cricket competitions.

Speaking at the launching ceremony on Friday at the National Stadium, Provid-ence, president of the GCB, Chetram Singh, expressed delight with corporate Guyana coming forward once again to join forces with the GCB.

“It is with great pleasure that I stand here today to welcome on board DDL through its PEPSI brand and Ansa McAl as sponsors of the GCB’s Twenty/20 inter- County and club competitions. The competitions will be used by the selectors as a yardstick to select the team to represent Guyana in the next Stanford Twenty/20 competition,” Singh stated.

Speaking on behalf of Ansa McAl, Marketing Manager, Troy Cadogan, told the small gathering how pleased his company was to be a part of this competition.

“As you are all aware, this format of cricket is fast improving around the cricketing world and Ansa McAl is pleased to be associated with the GCB in the competitions and to this effect, we will be having promotional items on give away at the games during the competitions,” Cadogan said.

DDL/PEPSI’s, Sharda Veeren-Chand, highlighted how synonymous cricket and PEPSI were.

“One just needs to take a look at world cricket and they will see the close relationship PEPSI shares with the game. Even right here in Guyana, DDL/PEPSI sponsors national and West Indies captain Ramnaresh Sarwan. West Indies cricket team would not be possible if we did not give our young cricketers this sort of exposure,” Veeren-Chand stated.

Meanwhile, in a change of procedure, a cricketer was asked to make a comment during a launching ceremony and doing the honours was former West Indies fast bowler Reon King.

“Firstly, I want to thank the sponsors for coming forward and sponsoring this competition as we all know that sponsorship is hard to come by. Secondly, we will look forward to playing in this competition as we endeavour to make the Guyana/Stanford Twenty/20 team,” King added.
