It took extra time but eventually Lodge Community High claimed this year’s Edwin ‘Chow’ Sealy Memorial tournament. It was a hard fought 3-2 victory over Tutorial High School in the final held at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue yesterday. Both teams were deadlocked at two apiece at the end of regulation with Marcos Marcus and Dwayne Lawrence scoring for Tutorial and Rawle Adams and Romario Andrews netting for Lodge. It took an extra time strike off the boot of Daniel Wilson to seal the issue in favour of Lodge and hand them the crown this year. Earlier, Covent Garden Secondary claimed third place by beating Carmel Community High 2-0. The game was sealed for Covent Garden with a Colin McLean double. Daniel Wilson of Lodge Community High was adjudged the tournament’s Most Valuable Player while Jason Sutton of Carmel was the Highest Goal Scorer with nine goals in the tournament. Lodge goalie Shane Cooper won the nod for Best Goalkeeper. The tournament was held in memory of youth football stalwart Edwin “Chow’ Sealy and was coordinated by Rudolph ‘Chow’ Hunte of the Department of Youth and Sport.
