Swarm of bees disrupts football game

An attack by a swarm of bees disrupted play on Sunday in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) U-15 competition at the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) ground.

At the time of the stoppage, Fruta Conquerors and Plaisance were deadlocked 1-1 in an intense Group ‘B’ encounter nine minutes into the second half.

Earlier in the afternoon, Buxton gained their first point after holding the Georgetown Football Club to a 1-1 draw.

Les Charles netted the equalizer for the East Coast side three minutes into the second half after Seon Forte’s 15th minute strike had given GFC the lead.

Unbeaten Santos registered the only victory of the day disposing of Camptown 3-0 in the other Group ‘B’ match.

Meanwhile, according to Lester Sealey, assistant secretary/treasurer, of the GFA, all matches of the GFA Supligen U-20 and Coca Cola U-15 competitions have been suspended with immediate effect because of the inclement weather.

Sealey said teams will be notified of the resumption by way of new fixtures.
