Cane cutter dies from chops, relative held

A 44-year-old cane cutter died at around 10 on Saturday night, three days after he was severely chopped allegedly by a relative who is now in police custody.

Ganesh Rai called ‘Redo’ of 155 Section B Number 72 Village, Corentyne, died at the New Amsterdam Hospital after sustaining chop wounds to his thigh, abdomen and his head. Reports are that the man was chopped sometime on the night of January 2.

The investigation is continuing.
