Given huge increases in the cost of gasoline public servants need higher car allowances

Dear Editor,

For fifteen years the government, TUC and PSU seem unable to narrow whatever differences they may have in order to bring some relief to the public servants who are entitled to commuted car allowances and other allowances payable on the performance of their official duties.

Since the last increase, the prices of gasoline and other related services and products have skyrocketed to a whopping six hundred per cent plus, all those public servants who have bought vehicles have to either abandon their vehicles or stretch their meagre salaries to maintain their vehicles.

Each year that the budget and salary increases have been released, public servants anticipate an increase for them, but it is not forthcoming.

Will the TUC and government demonstrate some concern for public servants soon?

Yours faithfully,

Deen
