City Council appoints team to help it reform

The City Council says it has appointed a Change Team to propose a model that would boost its capacity to fulfil its mandate as restructuring is a major priority on its 2008 agenda.

The Mayor and City Council said Town Clerk Beulah Williams appointed the Team. In a press release the Council said it is about 171 years old and a new model is needed to accommodate the “new dynamics of the city.”

It said the proposal is expected to incorporate and reflect the history of Georgetown, its culture and organisation. It is also expected to identify contextual changes such as the mode of development; determine the Council’s core services and how it can boost delivering those services; provide an outline of the recommended objectives, strategies and policies to boost the Council’s capacity; propose changes that would help it to respond to the changing demands of the global and local environment and design a communication programme to ease the impact of organisation change for municipal workers.
