Farmers affected by clearing invited by police to compensation meeting

Those farmers operating in the Buxton backlands which has now become a target for a massive bush clearing exercise by the joint services are now being asked to visit the Police Headquarters, Eve Leary from today to make claims for compensation.

A police press release issued last night said that in relation to the work being done in the backlands of Buxton where the Joint Services are in the process of clearing the dense vegetation, all persons who are engaged in farming in the affected area and are desirous of making claims for compensation are invited to visit Police Headquarters to meet with the Police Public Relations and Press Officer, Ivelaw Whittaker, commencing today at 10 am.

The release added that persons who wish to do so may take along documents to substantiate their claims.

This clearing exercise comes at a time when there is pressure on the government to do something following the massacre of 11 persons at Lusignan two weeks ago.
