Ganja seller refused bail on larceny charge

A man charged with stealing $1.6 million in stock from his friend’s stall, failed to impress the court with the story that he bought the articles with money he made selling marijuana and was remanded to prison.

Collin Goddard, 44, of 2449 North Ruimveldt pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

It is alleged that on January 29, Goddard broke into the stall of Brian Edwards and carted off a large portion of the man’s stock.

Goddard in his defence said that he didn’t steal the items but bought them from another man.

He told the court that he was unemployed but made a little money to keep himself by selling marijuana. When asked by the magistrate if he knew this was illegal he said yes.

Goddard was remanded to prison and the matter continues on February 15 in Court Two.
