Cambio dealer shot

An East Bank Demerara cambio dealer is nursing gun wounds about his body after being attacked by a man outside a bar in Kitty on Saturday night.

Leonard Mahadeo, 33, of Nandy Park, East Bank Demerara was attacked by an armed man at Barr Street and Stanley Place, Kitty around 9.40 pm, a release from the Police Public Relations Department said. Up to press time last night the businessman was being treated at a private hospital.

His relatives have declined to comment on the incident.

According to the police statement Mahadeo was sitting in his car when the gunman discharged several rounds at him and escaped.

He was hit in the left side of his chest, right shoulder and left knee and was taken to the hospital. The police recovered six spent shells and four warheads at the scene.
