Four Africans remanded over drug find

Four Africans were yesterday remanded on the charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

Solomon Johnson, 35, from Kenya; Anyaoha Ikechukwu Brown, 36, from Swaziland; Samuel John Koffi, 42, of Ghana and Edwin Muogbo Elija Nudubuisi, 35, of Nigeria were allegedly caught with four kilogrammes, 0.90 grammes of cocaine on February 8 on the Essequibo Coast.

They were arrested after a car they were travelling in was stopped and searched by police and the illegal substance was found.

The men were taken to the Aurora police station where the charges were read to them.

At the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court the men appeared without legal representation and all pleaded not guilty to the joint charge before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton.

The matter was transferred to the Suddie Magistrate court for February 18.
