Missing hotelier’s ex-husband held

Alex Barker, the ex-husband of Alpha Hotel owner Roseanne Hall who disappeared two weeks ago was apprehended by police yesterday when he appeared in court on simple larceny and traffic violation charges.

Stabroek News was told by a well-placed source that Barker had spent some time in police custody before his court appearance. The source said the man was accused of snatching a cellular phone from a woman, but the case was dropped. However, his name aroused suspicion in the mind of an officer who proceeded to question him afterwards. The source said the man was questioned about his occupation and he reportedly told an officer that he was a hotel manager. The officer reportedly made contact with higher ranks of the force and Barker was arrested and carried to the Brickdam police station where he is being questioned.

Police last Friday issued a wanted bulletin for Barker called ‘Amkabima’, who they believe could assist in investigations into Hall’s disappearance. Hall was last seen leaving a hairdressing salon on Wednesday last in the company of her ex-husband.
