Security plan outdated as doesn’t address terrorism, other problems

The Security Sector Reform Action Plan (SSRAP) is inadequate since it does not address insurgency, domestic terrorism, political violence or urban warfare, the AFC and GAP have reiterated.

The parties believe that the current national security crisis transcends normal boundaries of traditional crime and is intended to change the political landscape. They said they are going to work assiduously with all citizens and representatives of political, religious and civilian organizations in finding consensus to move the country to a place that would be safe.

They said, too, that despite all that government officials have been saying over the past two weeks, they have not addressed how they intend to ensure that the type of slaughter that occurred in Agricola in 2006 and more recently in Lusignan does not occur again. They also have not said what is being done to ensure the arrests and prosecution of those responsible for the crimes.
