The PPP in wishing Guyanese best wishes on the occasion of the 38th anniversary of the Republic has noted that this year the holiday is being observed at a time when criminals are committing heinous crimes in the country.
“As a nation we must give a full rebuff to these attacks. All of us with one voice must condemn these barbaric acts unequivocally. We must not allow this to disrupt our progress,” the PPP said in a press statement yesterday.
The ruling party further urged that Guyanese rally together and work to rid the country of this evil, adding that this struggle must serve to bind citizens closer and strengthen their resolve to have a truly peaceful and prosperous Republic.
The party said too that while citizens mark this important occasion they must spare a thought for the sorrowing relatives and friends of their murdered countrymen, women and children of Lusignan and Bartica.
