Relief Council assists five fire-hit families

The Guyana Relief Council (GRC) said it recently rendered assistance to five families who suffered losses due to fire.

In a press release, the GRC said it provided assistance to Dollis Gordon, from a family of seven, of Calcutta, Mahaicony; Rajpattie Ankaya, from a family of three, of Endeavour, Canal Number One; Gushwin Gordon, from a family of five, of Eldorado, West Coast Berbice and Desiree Patterson, from a family of three, of Nurney, Corentyne. Also, its Welfare Committee recently handed out donations to two Berbice families.

The GRC said that for the year it has already provided assistance to nine families comprising 41 persons, who suffered due to fire; one welfare family; four welfare organisations and one hinterland welfare family. It again extends its gratitude to those individuals and organisations who give generously; allowing it to fulfil its mandate.

Meanwhile, the GRC announces the winners in its anniversary raffle. The first prize of a four-burner gas stove was won by Deenauth Harrylall who holds ticket number 1491. The second prize, a day trip for two to Baganara, was won by ticket holder 703, Courtney Benn Contracting Services; the third prize, an Emerson slow cooker, was won by ticket holder 120, Karen Cumberbatch, and Seepersaud Maraj, the holder of ticket number 1235 won the fourth prize of a hamper of Namaste hair products.
