A pensioner, 81-year-old Latchmama Ramsammy, died after she was hit by a beverage truck yesterday at Cuthbert Street, Goed Fortuin Housing Scheme, West Bank Demerara.
According to a police press release yesterday, investigations revealed that the driver of a beverage truck was reversing out of the street when it struck down Ramsammy.
The release said she was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where she died while receiving treatment. Police said the driver is in police custody assisting with investigations.
