Kitty mechanic charged over missing generator

A Kitty mechanic was placed on $50,000 bail by Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle in the Georgetown Magistrate’s court yesterday after he reportedly failed to return a generator he was expected to fix.

Shawn Rahim appeared before the court after the generator which Randolph Brown had left with him to fix disappeared from his workshop. Brown said he asked Rahim to fix his generator but when he went to the mechanic’s house he was constantly told to “come back tomorrow.” When he finally met the accused he was told that the generator was not there.

Rahim, 22, of 236 David Street, Kitty, pleaded not guilty and told the court that Brown had left the generator at the workshop without his permission. He said that the generator was very old and he did not want to fix it since it would have required a lot of spare parts which he did not have. Rahim told the court that his uncle had seen Brown in the yard searching the day before the generator went missing.

The matter was transferred to Court Five for March 5.
