Stakeholders meeting first step – PNCR

The PNCR says the national stakeholders meeting on security held on Wednesday is the first sensible step the government has taken towards finding a resolution to the present crime and security crisis.

At its weekly press conference held yesterday at Congress Place, the PNCR said if the PPP/C expects stakeholders’ support for any measures they contemplate it hopes that the government considers the meeting the beginning of the process to start a course of action that may resolve problems the country has faced for 20 years.

The meeting comprising members of government, parliamentary political parties and civil society was called in the aftermath of the Lusignan and Bartica massacres.

The PNCR said the eyes of the world are on President Bharrat Jagdeo and the PPP/C, and only time will reveal whether they are committed to resolving the country’s deep-seated problems which have led to alienation, marginalization, violence and the loss of lives.
