Murti damaged in Hindu temple break-in

Police are investigating a break-in at the Hindu Temple at Camp and Quamina streets on Sunday night, in which a murti (statue) of the Goddess Durga was damaged.

A member of the Radha Krishna Temple said yesterday that the temple had two small buildings dedicated to worship at the front of the temple compound and both were broken into. However, only the murti and some glass on the door of one of the buildings were damaged and nothing was stolen, the member said.

Residents of the area said it was a mentally disabled man who broke into the temple compound.

The Radha Krishna Temple member said the police were investigating the matter.
