Relief council helps disaster-hit families

The Guyana Relief Council (GRC) yesterday assisted seven families who suffered losses due to fire and two families who suffered damage due to high winds.

In a press release the GRC said it rendered assistance to Kalawattie Persaud from a family of four, of 46 Pere Street, Kitty; Desiree Manget, from a family of two, of 276 Parika Main Road; Mohan Bhola, from a family of two, of 6 Good Hope, Canal Number One; Marie Tyrell from a family of one, of Charity, Pomeroon; Ryan Archer, from a family of five, of 91 Crane Housing Scheme, Ulric Brathwaite from a family of one, of Lana, Demerara River and Maylene Warren, from a family of six of 148 Friendship, East Coast Demerara.

The families affected by high winds are Sandra Prince, from a family of six of 74 Grove Public Road, East Bank Demerara and Dianne Fraser from a family of 16 of 10 Princes Street, Lodge.

The GRC said to date it has rendered assistance to 17 families comprising 68 persons who suffered due to fire; two families comprising 21 persons who suffered due to high winds; five welfare organisations; seven welfare families and one hinterland welfare family.
