West Demerara man shot in back during row

A 22-year-old De Kinderen, West Coast Demerara man who was shot in his back on Sunday following an argument with his friend is recovering in the Georgetown Public Hospital after undergoing surgery to remove the bullet.

Derion Elexey is said to be in a stable condition.

Reports reaching Stabroek News indicate that on the day question at Anna Katherina, West Coast Demerara, Elexey and one of the friends he lives with had a misunderstanding. That friend later shot him in the back.

It was not clear if the shooter had since been apprehended by the police. The injured man was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was treated and referred to the city medical institution.

On arrival there, he was taken to the operating room for surgery.
