Miner robbed workmate of gold at knifepoint – court told

A 19-year-old miner who allegedly robbed his colleague of two and a half ounces of gold while threatening the man’s life with a knife was yesterday taken before the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Trevor Adams of Grant New Port, Pomeroon was not required to plead to the indictable charge of robbery under arms.

It is alleged that on March 25 at Big Hope Waini, North West, Adams robbed Lennox Prince of two and a half ounces of gold worth $463,000 while being armed with a knife.

Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton refused bail and the matter was subsequently transferred to the Mabaruma Magistrate’s Court for May 20.
