A man returned home after several hours of fishing to find his home at Number 37 Village, Berbice flattened by a fire yesterday.
Raymond Hukumchand, 45, told this newspaper that he left his home at around 7 am yesterday to go fishing and while there, he received a message at around 11 am that his house, measuring 18 feet by 12 feet, was on fire.
The man said that he has lost all his belongings in the fire and he himself is at a loss to determine what could have started it.
“I left the house…nothing was on the fire,” he said. He added that he lived in the house alone. “Nothing ent save…everything burn,” he said.
