Night of drama…

Younge, a television reporter with VCT 28 and Kendall, a young beauty from Berbice were the dark horses in the competition that boasted some of the hottest catwalk models the country has to offer. But in the end the models hotly favoured to win generated more steam than heat failing to pull everything together as they neared the finish line.
It was a calm Younge, who, despite meagre support and negative sentiments, was left standing ahead of runners-up Anthony Snow and the chiselled, Dillon Bradford. Kendall was absolutely engaging and strutted her stuff all night like she owned the stage at Le Meridien Pegasus Hotel leaving finallists, Jenel Cox and Ayanna Harris wondering where they went wrong.  But who knew that naming Guyana’s next top model could have resulted in drama so full of excitement.

From numerous wardrobe malfunctions to r-rated fashion and a sudden onstage collapse following the announcements, Guyana Model Search left the audience searching for ways to sum up the night though a popular word was ‘unbelievable’.

In the final few moments disappointment and disapprovals were everywhere as patrons openly aired disagreement at the choices and questioned who the judges were. But nothing eclipsed the on-stage collapse of model, Jenel Cox who fainted minutes after learning that she had finished third overall. As with any confident, young and beautiful model, Cox felt the title was hers from the beginning.

The Guyana Model Search culminated with the show, ‘Glamorous’ after three months of competition. The top models who will go on to represent Guyana at fashion shows across the Caribbean region and grace the catwalk at the Guyana Fashion Weekend later this year were chosen based on their overall performance.
